7 Black (Picarella)

6-1

10/25/09 - Pride dominated E. Islip with a 12-0 win. The defense allowed 1 1st down and we had some big hits from Joey Venezia, John J stripping the ball and Matt Meenan recovering fumbles. Justin Houston was reading and reacting perfectly and making crushing tackles. Spadafora was solid again, all defenders played great. On offense Bryce Bland had 2 amazing runs for TD's (60 yds and 40 yds), one was called back on a penalty 30 yards behind the play...great moves and breaking tackles by Bryce. Houston scored the other TD. Mike Leva was running hard again and the Offensive Line did an outstanding job. 6-1 with 2 games to go. Great job Pride, the coaches are proud!

10/18/09 - Pride lost their first game of the year 14-0 to South Shore in horrible weather conditions. The freezing rain and wind had a big impact on our teams ability. The team is ready for the next opponent and will build off of this loss.

10/11/2009 - Pride has improved to 5-0 by beating undefeated Sayville 14-6. The game wasnt as close as the score and once again this was a complete team effort. TD's were scored by Justin Houston and Mikey Leva. Extra points were added by Jonathan Spadafora and Bryce Bland. We had a TD by Justin Houston called back because of a penalty and we let up our first TD of the season on a mis-direction play that had me fooled. All the coaches are proud of the way the team is playing. We are winning based on hard work, discipline and teamwork. Great job EVERYONE!!! LET'S GO PRIDE!!!

10/4/2009 - 7yr Olds (Picarella) - Pride beat Hauppauge 6-0 to gain sole possession of 1st place. It was a hard fought win and a complete team effort once again. Justin Houston broke several tackles to score the game only TD. The defense came up big once again with a goal line stance in the final minutes. John J #56 playing like LT. Ben Webb made a game saving tackle and the entire deffensive line battling. The offensive line looked great once again, getting better each week (nice work Coach Meenan!). The coaches are very proud of the effort made by the team. GO PRIDE!!!

9/27/09- 7 yr olds (Picarella) Pride continued the excellent defensive play by beating Islip 6-0 to improve to a 3-0 record on the season. Once again this was a total team effort. We had scrappy defensive play by Joe Natale and Tyler Goldberg. Some big plays by the entire defense...I like the gang tackling! On offense it was tough with the rain but we didn't fumble any snaps, good work by our centers Michael Picarella and Kelly Burke. Spadafora was his usual complete football player with so great QB bootlegs and great tackles. Justin Houston scored the only TD of the day with a 25 yr run. Lets keep the working hard and be ready for Hauppauge. LETS GO PRIDE!!!

9/20/2009 - 7 yr olds (Picarella) Pride dominated their 2nd game with a 13-0 win over Northport. The score could have been much higher but we had a Mikey Leva TD run called back. Brett Martin had an amazing run breaking tackles for a 60 yd TD in the first half and a hard fought extra point by Spadafora. Karl Mehroff, the teams powerhouse guard was rewarded for his hard work and given a chance to run with the ball, and he didn't disappoint...one word comes to mind LOCOMOTIVE! The defense was amazing again holding the opponent to negative offensive yardage. Matt Meenan had a couple of sacks and tackles in the backfield. Very scrappy defensive play by Louis Rivera, Eric Geringswald and Luke Consolo. And some unsung heroes on the defensive...Harry Landau and Joey Venezia working hard every play. I'm missing a few names but this was a complete team effort.

9/13/2009 - 7 yr old Team Black won the first game of the season by beating Bayshore 6-0 on a 50 yd TD run by Justin Houston. Bayshore clearly had the bigger team but Pride had the bigger heart. The offensive line was outstanding in driving the larger defensive line down the field. We were close to breaking a few other plays with hard running by Mikey Leva and speed of Bryce Bland and Ben Webb. Jonathan Spadafora was outstanding at QB as well as leading the team in tackles. The entire defense shut down Bayshore. Bayshore did not gain more than 10 yds the entire game. The defense was swarming and making some big hits...see Jackson Zaiff and John Jiminez. I could name every player because this was a complete team effort and I'm sure we will see all names on this board before the season is over. I'm very proud of the effort and execution put forth by all of our boys!!! How bout them PRIDE!!!

7/8 Red (Dominic)

8-1

11/08/09 -  Hills 18-6 over Commack. What a way to finish the season. Total domination on both sides of the ball. We were up 18-0 at the half. Boys the coaching staff is very proud of each and everyone of you. You guys played hard all season long and should be very proud of youselves. Thank you for working hard all year. Hope everyone had half as much fun as the coaches. See everyone soon.

11/1/09 - Hills 7 Connequot 13. I have to chalk that one up to Halloween. To much candy. Very physical team. Hard to win a game when we fumble 6 times. Boys tough loss keep your heads up and we will get back on track next week.

10/25/09 - Hills 19 Commack 7.  A great all around team effort today.  Commack had the ball the whole first quarter.  Hills defense held strong not letting up any points.  Offensive line again did great opening up huge holes.  We were up 19-0 before allowing  Commack to score on the final drive.  The two things we most proud of. First, Donovan Jarvis scoring a 100 yard touchdown!!  Secondly,  when Commack scored to end the game, Pride players and parents stood up and applauded loudly for them.  I would also like to say that I enjoyed spending time with the team and their families at Portico this evening.

10/18/09 - Hills 19 Deer Park 7. What a nice win by the team. This was my favorite game of the year so far. The weather was cold and rainy and the boys showed tremendous heart. We were down 7-6 and had not one but two touchdowns called back. The team didn't let this bother them at all. They remained focused and determined to win. Once again a tremendous job of blocking by the O line. The defense was excellent again as well. When we needed a big stop the boys stepped up and delivered. Boys, all of the coaches are extremely proud of all of you! Thanks for the great effort today.

10/10/09 - Hills 18 Huntington 6. Great win by the kids. Everyone played hard on every play. Defense was swarming to the ball and the offense once again was opening up some nice holes. Congratulations to West on your first TD.

10/04/09 - Hills 12 Huntington 6. What a great effort by all the boys today. Awesome job by the offensive line opening up huge holes. Ryan, Conor, Jonathan, Daniel, Robert, Billy, and Joey. Great job of commanding the offense by Brian, way to lead. Donovan great effort on your 50 yard touchdown run. West and Dylan way to pound the ball up the gut. You boys set the tone by running hard and refusing to go down. Dylan congratulations on your first touchdown and game winner. Robert and Jonathan way to step up and open huge holes on the game winning drive. Defense was great today. After 6 to 6 score they held strong to preserve the win. Defense was swarming to the ball and gang tackling on every play. Nice job Kaleeb, John, Andrew, Joe, Michael, Lucas, Matty, Justin. Noah set the tone early by making tackle after tackle in the backfield, he was everywhere. West and Kaleeb were also defensive stand outs yesterday.

9/27/09 - Hills 22 - Commack 7. What a total team effort on both sides of the ball. When our opening drive stalled on the 3 yard line the defense took over. Recording a safety on Commack's first play of the game. The offensive line once again was incredible enabling us to score 3 touchdowns and 2 extra points. The running backs should a lot of heart today breaking tackle after tackle. Defense great job, gang tackling on every play.

9/20/09- Hills 13 Connetquot. 6. We started off slow falling behind 6-0. What a gritty comeback by the boys. The defense stepped up in a big way, led by "Wild" West Prucha and the rest of the boys. The defense didn't allow a first down during the second half. Nice job Matt, John, Lucas, Joe and Andrew. Offensive line today was excellent again. Nice job Dylan, Justin, Connor, Daniel, Billy, Kaleeb, Robert, and Ryan. This enabled Donovan "Dynamite" Jarvis to explode for 2 long touchdown runs. Sealing the extra point was QB Brian Flattau to Joey "The Vig" Vigilucci.

9/13/09 -Hills 12 Central Islip 0. ALL the boys played a great game today on both sides of the ball. No one ever let up they gave it there all on every play. We had some great runs today, however I was most impressed with the offensive line. Boys you did a great job today. Defense was excellent, chased the boys down from behind and never quit on the play. Excellent pressure in the backfield too. Very proud of the effort given in such a short time of practicing together.

9 Red (Narciso)

7-3

11/15/09 - HHH 6, North Shore 0…. They say defense wins games and what a defense we showed!! To North Shore’s credit they also played very well defense in our second showing against them. A team effort has been illustrated in every game but the TEAM EFFORT showed in our final games was unwavering!!! Despite many turnovers by both teams, the score was 0-0 until the last minute and half when QB Jason Spinelli threw a game winning pass to Ethan McMenomy. This season was a success and we fell short of nothing. Thanks to ALL of our players. You have made your coaches, parents, family members and all other spectators proud!! Hope to see you next season.

11/8/09 - HHH 25, Commack 7... One of our best games of the season. The entire team showed up to play in unbelievable fashion. Chase "Nails" Goldberg had an outstanding game on both sides of the ball. In addition to the phenomenal team effort that led to our sweet victory, there was excellent running by CJ Pasella. We also had great ball handling and runs by back up QB Spencer Weingard and Avery Mastandrea's on point tackles. Only One more game to be played to cap off a wonderful season.

11/1/09 - HHH 24 Smithtown 6. Great all around effort by our team. The highlight was a interception by Jeffery Terry going 55 yards on the last play of the game. CJ Passella with a few field goal tries and great defense plays.. Next up Commack.

10/25/09 -  HHH 0, Center Moriches 7… The boys put up another good effort and we made Center Moriches battle every down. We will come back stronger. Next week: Smithtown.

10/17/09 - HHH 7 Northport 13 Although it was a fairly late game & this being something new for our team, our boys put forth another good fight. A great deal of heart was also seen in this game on both sides of the ball. Next week Center Moriches-Let’s go get ‘em PRIDE!

10/11/09 - HHH 22 East Islip 7. What a game by the pride. Led by Jason Spinelli and Jalen Twines touchdown runs. Extra Point caught by Brett Peskin. And what can I say Chase "Nails" Goldberg with a tackle for a safety.. What an all around team effort.

10/4/09 - HHH 13, Three Village 13… What a nail biter!!! Down to the last minute out boys gave a monstrous fight. Our defense, guided by Chase Goldberg, CJ Passella, Jeffrey Terry, Dereck DeMartino, James Cournane and Evan Gottlieb had great stops on every down. We could not have asked for a better effort. Ethan McMenemy and Tommy Narciso led our offensive line with their plentiful stops and blocks. Jason Spinelli & Jalen Twine both ran 50+ yards each for TD’s. Dylan Campbell had an awesome TD Stop to add lots of flavor to an already exciting game. GREAT GAME BOYS!!! Keep that momentum.

9/27/09 - HHH 19, LI Sharks 7… This was a great all around game!! The entire team put forth a team effort worthy of thunderous applause. The "W" was led by QB Jason Spinelli who avoided being sacked & threw a pitch to Jalen Twine to score one of his TD’s. The exceptional defensive stops by Evan Gardner, Evan Gottlieb, Jake Lobel & Spencer Weingard kept the game in our favor. The great running by James Cournane, Dylan Campbell blitzing on every down, Ethan McMenemy tackles & TD, CJ Passella’s sack, Weingard’s catches, Derek DeMartino’s five tackles in the 4th quarter were all key points in this success. Without both the O-Line and D-Line doing their jobs, this victory could not have been sweeter.

9/20/09 - HHH 6, Sayville 19… We had a tough lost against a good team. A few lessons learned throughout the game that we will build on and come out stronger next week. LET’S GO PRIDE!!

9/12/09 - HHH 19, North Shore 7… Our first "W" was a good one. Despite the rain, our boys came out excited and ready to play in this first game of the season. QB Jason Spinelli threw a complete pass to Spencer Weingard and Ethan McMenemy & Jalen Twine had outstanding touchdown runs. Our defense also came prepared with a flurry of blitz schemes. Congrats to our boys! GOOD JOB!

10 Red (McDonald)

3-6

11-08-09 - 3 Villages - 8 Hills - 6 - What a heartbreaking loss. Just before the half, 3 Villages ran in for the score. This team however did not give up. Right at the start of the second half we marched the ball down to the three yard line. Nick Volpe then punched it up the middle for the score. We tried for the 2 point conversation but just missed. Big running plays by Volpe, McCarthy, P. Spadafora, and Bockleman. In the end, we drove down as far as we could, but just ran out of gas and clock.

11-01-09 - Hills - 19  Babylon - 7 - A major turn around from the past 5 games. The offense blocked unbelievably. Phil Spadafora ran for three touchdowns. Daniel Ryan made an awesome catch in the end zone for the lone extra point. Late in the fourth the defense loosened up and did the right thing and let Babylon score their one TD.

10-25-09 - East Islip - 28 - Hills - 7 Phil Spadafora ran in for the lone touchdown and Nick Volpe followed with the PAT.

10-18-09 - Commack - 21 Hills - 0 Tough playing conditions in cold and rain.

10-11-09 - Sayville - 22 Pride - 6  - Another disappointing day. Phil Spadafora ran in for the lone score as time ran out.

10-04-09 - Hills - 0 - Sound Sharks - 20 - No offense or defense to get things going.

09-27-09 - Smithtown - 20 Hills - 6 - The real Red team never really showed. Phil Spadafora ran in the only touchdown. There were some positives on offense. Volpe, Spadaforas, and Mike Ciccone had some nice runs. McCarthy to Daniel Ryan was huge. The first one is always the toughest.

09/20/09 - North Shore - 7 Hills Pride - 20 - This team picked up where they left off last week. They jumped on 13 quick points in the first quarter. The first was on the hard running of Nick Volpe followed by a Daniel Ryan extra point. Later in the first, Dustin McDonald's hard hit of the QB caused him to fumble and Jaime Ciccone ran over 30 yards for his first career touchdown. In the second, Sean McCarthy kept with his aggressive style and ran into the endzone for our third TD. Nick Volpe followed up with the extra point. The offense kept positive yards going, while the defense was once again over the top in handling the opposing offense.

09-12-09 - Hills - 12    Babylon - 6   After scheduling issues with Babylon and a 4 and 1/2 hour delay we finally got started. The steady rain kept the ball movement slow. Early in the second Babylon scored. This team never gave up. With the cards stacked against this team, they fought back hard and tied the game before the half. Phil Spadafora turned up hard for the TD. The second half went the same as the first. Late in the fourth quarter, QB Sean McCarthy took command and on a keeper ran hard to the right and punched it in for the winning TD. Both the "O" and "D" were tough. The "D" really stood up and shut Babylon down after we went up. The "D" intimidated Babylon's "O" into multiple off sides, and false starts.

10 Blue (Jarvis)

1-0

9/20/09- Great game after a great week of practice "hard work and Dedication" 26-6 win over the LI sharks. Our Defense set the tone with three forced fumbles in the first quarter. Our stand out players on Defense were Justin Seedansingh (1 fumble recovery) Jason Sabshon (1 forced fumble) Tyler Parkinson 1 forced fumble and Donte Jarvis (2 forced fumbles). Our offense started off with three quick touchdowns (Tyler 1 Donte 2) courtesy of great offensive line blocking , great job!!!!! (Evan, Justin, Tommy, Anthony, Jason, and Jaden). I must applaud Robbie Flattau , Anthony Cappadonna, Jordan Lafuci, Jaden Blackwood, and Jason Sabshon for steepping up and doing a great job on offense when your team needed you. Our Qb Broadway Joe Sanfratello added an exclamation point to our victorty with a 25 yard TD!! Pass to Jason Sabshon late in the fourth quarter. Once again great job!!! AMAZING TEAM WIN!!! GO PRIDE!!!!

11 Red (Marulli)

6-2

11/1/2009 -Marulli Red with a dominating defensive effort over Longwood in a 14-0 win. Great line play, Brandon and Nico with big contributions, and Gabe, Mike and Chance were a force in the middle. Great job by Roe, Steve and Jordan with great pressure and containment from the end position. Line backer play was phenominal(Ron, Julian, Malachi, Simon, Corey and Devon), and the corners and safeties did a great job of containing(Chris, Joe, Mike and Matt). After going up 14-0 with power running and sweeps, Red opened up the offense and let the boys have some fun. We ahd some BIG plays down field, and worked on out timing with Ron under center, gearing up for Connetquot. Joe, Ron, Malachi, Julian and Devon all ran great. Great day receiving by Devon, Corey and Dallas, and our passing game looked very efficient. Ron was great in running the offense for the first time, great running and some great deep throws. Corey was great with the HB option pass, and had a reception worthy of ESPN highlights. If we pounded the middle (they dropped three safeties back and spread their defense wide)we could have won by 30, but we stuck to our game plan of working on our passing attack, and it was a great learning tool with Longwood set up for the very offense we were running. All this to prepare for our showdown with Connetquot next week. We need to win these next two to guarantee second place in the division, and if we get a Huntington win over Connetquot today next week is for first place. On my way to Huntington to root for the Bulldogs!

10/25/09 - Red 11 just endured their worst loss in four years. We opened the game with a big opening stop of Huntington on fourth down, and then marched the ball down the field for a 7-0 lead. We held Huntington again, and were moving like a well oiled machine. Red never complains about officiating, but we recieved five holding penalties on our next two possessions. It seemed like the refs were looking at the standings and trying to keep the game close before we even scored our second TD. Then , on a fourth and long, Huntington threw a desparation pass that was and easy interception, our safety over played the ball, and it tipped up to Huntington for a 7-6 Hills lead going into the fourth. Huntington stacked the box, daring Red to pass, and we did. Blocking was great, patterns were crisp, we just could not get the ball there. We then had a great defensive stand to get the ball back, and had fourth and one with thirty seconds left. We called time out, and went with a long couint to try to draw the off side penalty, and WE jumped off side. Red made the decision to punt on fourth and six, and with seconds left the punt is returned for a TD, and a 12-6 loss. Devastating!

10/18/09 - A devastating win, under brutal conditions. It was 27-0 early in the third quarter, and this is with a lot of help from the refs and Pride tryink/l,hy5e34rtyuk;'/

?
";.khgcdxzcv nbm,g to keep it respectable. Final 27-6, could have been 50-0. The story, as it always is under terrible conditions, was our line play  f(Gabe, Mike J., Chance, Steve, Roe, Brandon, Jordan). We dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Every one who ran gained yards, the holes were tremendous. Devon, Joe, Malachi and Nico did a great job holding onto the ball, while gaining huge chunks of real estate.

We probably could have passed, but it was unnecessary. Julian was a force at line backer and Chris comes up with another big hit and tackle, our Little Big Man. Receivers did a great job of blocking. It gets tougher as we get Huntington and Connetquot over the next three weeks. We need to run the table to accomplish what we set out to do. Go pride!

10/11/09 - A dominating win, 20-0 at the half, and we called off the dogs. We ran our blitzes through the weakside A and C gaps, and our D line dominated the strong A and B/C gaps, just as we game planned all week. The starting D gave up negative yardage, with Gabe, Chance, Mike, Jordan, Brandon, Steve and Roe getting a big push to force the O line back into the Wildcat. Ron, Malachi and Julian did a great job of blitzing, N.S. could not get off the line. And the corners and saefeties did a great job of containment, outstanding job by Corey, Joe and the Big Man, Chris. On offense, we opened up with some inside power runs, and that opened up the passing lanes, both in sweep options by Ron and Corey, and staight back drops by Corey. Outside of a couple od drops, a great day by the receivers. Ron's catch in stride from Corey for a 60 yard TD was a thing of beauty. O line was great, blocking backs and receivers were great, and running game was overpowering. Great job by Nico on both sides of the ball, running hard in the second half, and teaming with Brandon to play strong D, also a great tackle on punt coverage. We move to 4-1, with a 20-8 victory, and look to run the table to get a chance at the Super Bowl. Next up, Islip A, but Red fears no one! Go Pride!!!

10/04/09 - Marulli's 11 Red took the field today a huge underdog. The Sharks had buried opponents their first three games while racking up 100 points. Their first team offense had not been stopped, and their first team defense had not given up a TD, culminating with a huge 21-0 win over the pre-season division favorite Huntington. The Red Machine was twice down in the game, 8-0, and 14-13, I have never witnessed such fight and heart in all my years of coaching. They had two huge fourth quarter stops, one after they forced a fumble that would have given them posession deep in Shark territory, a blatant blown call by the far side official, it's not even his call. They took over deep in Shark territory for one final drive, with a little over 8 minutes left on the clock. They went to their horse, Malachi, and with trmendous blocking in front, drove the field for the TD while leaving only 43 seconds on the clock. The defense, which was huge all day, came up with the biggest stop of the season for the victory. The O line (Gabe, Mike, Roe, Steve,Jordan and Chance), was great all day, and Julian, Devon, Joe and Ron did a tremendous job of blocking out of the backfield. Corey managed the game with aplumb, had some great throws, and ran hard all day. But, the offensive star once again was Malachi, inside and outside runs with speed and power. We put in a Cover 3 defense to control their trip and quad receiver sets, and it worked beautifully as Julian did a great job of jamming the middle receiver at the line, disrupting their out patterns. The D line (Steve, Jordan, Mike, Roe, Gabe) did a great job all day, and the corners and safeties did a great job of controlling the recievers, only exception a couple of break downs in outside containment. But this D Day belonged to the Line Backers! Malachi and Julian came flying in blitzes off the ends, and Ron was a Monster Line Backer, with tremendous pursuit and great fundamental open field tackling. The Big Red Machine moves to 3-1, with destiny in their own hands. This and Bayshore two years ago, are the Machine's biggest wins. Go Pride!!

9/27/09 - The Big Red Machine returns to form with a 21-6 dominating win over Three Villages. Our offensive and defensive lines dominated, setting the tone. Our backs ran with speed and power, Joe to the outside, and Malachi dazzling all day long both inside and out. Corey did a great job of managing the game in a mini typhoon, including some nice pass plays under very difficult conditions. Ron played a great middle line backer, which allowed the outside backers to blitz and pressure all day long. Great blocking by Julian, Devon and Malachi on blasts and sweeps. Nico had great power runs up the middle, and Brandon played a solid line. But it was Gabe, Mike Jones, Simon and Chance on the interior of our lines, and Jordan, Roe, Devon and Steve on the outside, that ruled the day. If we bring this intensity every week, we can run the table, and get a chance at Connetquot in week ten, just as we did in beating Bayshore in the Super Bowl two years ago.

9-20-09 - Five turnovers, two interceptions taken back to the house against us, and FIVE penalties, I don not know if we had that all of last season. How we can have such a great week of practice and come out this week is a mystery. We have to just let this one go, move forward, and be US next week.

9-13-09 - Marulli 11 Red with a dominating defensive win over Longwood 7-0. Longwood had negative offensive yards for the day, as our line dominated, and the line backer play of Malachi and Corey set the tone. Also, a great INT by Mike G. The offense started off slow, missed passes and penalty to open game, but then put together a great drive for the winning score, with Malachi and Joe L setting the tone with great running. Longwood stacked the box with nine and ten players daring us to throw in the second half, and we had guys wide open by ten and twenty yards, but our passing game showed some rustiness as it did last year as we opened the season. Dallas made some shoe string catches, but we missed the big plays that our size forced Longwood to offer us. It could easily have been 28/35-0 in the third quarter. We enjoyed the win, but know we left too many points on the field, which we must correct so we do not let these teams hang around.
